I’ve Been Robbed! (or) Wealth Redistribution Sucks!
This morning (sometime between midnight and 8am) we were robbed. The thief broke out our driver side window and stole our gps. So now I’m not only robbed, I’m also lost. Thank God Amber is good at directions! The window repair people are coming by in a couple of hours to fix the window, but there’s a pretty healthy scratch on the door as well from the thief’s belt buckle digging into it when he/she reached in and grabbed the gps. I guess I’ll try to find a body shop to fix that too when I get some money for that. Aargh!!! The funny part is that they ripped the power cord so now they’ll have to order a new cord if they want it to work.
Two days ago, Amber was checking our checking account when she noticed some debits that were from Georgia. Since we live in Carlsbad, California, she thought this was a little fishy. Lo and behold there were 4 purchases totaling over $500 that were stolen from us! Ouch! Our bank was really good about getting us new cards and our money back.
Just last week we were getting ready to have a yard sale. I opened up the back of the minivan to get the double stroller out and I placed it on the grass right next to it. Our front door was open about 15 feet away. We were in and out of the apartment putting things in the van. We didn’t notice it until a couple of days later, but after we had finished putting things in the van, there was no stroller to be seen! Someone had stolen it!!! Aaaah!!!
I guess they needed these things more than we did. I think it’s time to move…

I often wrestle with what the proper response should be. At times I feel the only way to deter this type of behavior is to “open fire.” Other times, “oh well”. Sorry you had to be victimized.

That is a bummer that this happened to you guys. I think it is a good idea to move away from that area.
